Types of electric standing desks
There are so many different kinds of standing desks on the market to suit all sorts of budgets:
Table-top
Table-top standing desks are cheap and sit on top of an existing desk.
These fail to deliver true ergonomic benefits as not only do their surface areas not fit everything a regular desk would, leading to awkward straining, bending, and reaching, but their manual operation means more effort is required to switch from sitting to standing.
The result? A desk that is clunkily adjusted a few times only to end up in its lower position, unused.
Manual height adjustable desk
These desks are usually identifiable by a manual crank on the edge of the desk that, when wound, lowers and raises the desk.
Similarly to the table-top standing desks, these desks, in a very short period of time, become cumbersome to operate, and eventually, a user will not even bother using the manual crank and will therefore stop using the desk as it was intended.
