Spinal Health Week
21st โ 27th May 2012
The Chiropractorโs Association of Australia (CAA) is promoting awareness of spinal health during May 21st through to 27th. As specialists in office ergonomics, Ergomotion is advocating spinal health in the workplace.
The CAA have worked with major organisations like Telstra,
Kone Elevators and Pioneer, helping with injury prevention, less
fatigue, increased productivity and reduced Workerโs Compensation costs. The Chiropractorโs Association of Australia are conducting workplace health presentations to educate local businesses and their staff on spinal health awareness.
Good office ergonomics ensures spinal health by adapting the office environment to the employee and not vice-versa. By applying ergonomic seating, as well as regular exercise at work, spinal health can be encouraged and maintained.
Some tips to ensure spinal health include:
โ Keep your hips, elbows and knees at open angles (slightly more than 90 degrees)
โ Recline slightly to ease lower back pressure
โ Factor in short, regular breaks from sitting to stretch, stand change or correct your posture or walk around the office
