Electric height adjustable Imaging Desks Royal Children’s Hospital-Melbourne
As part of a phase 2 development at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne Ergomotion has supplied another 6 of their custom made Imaging desks to the Imaging Department at the Hospital. The desks have fully sit to stand electric adjustability, plus an electric height adjustable monitor mount that adjusts their 3 monitors in height to suit each individual user.
The Radiologists like in phase 1 identified electric height adjustable desks as the best solution to cater for all the varying heights and postures of their doctors. The electric height adjustable desks would allow them to be able to easily adjust their desk to suit themselves while sitting and also allow them to stand for part of the day. The height of the monitors was also of concern as the monitors would need to vary in height depending on whether the doctor was sitting or standing. This is where the electric monitor lift was designed to allow the monitors to be easily adjusted in height and reach.
Electric height adjustable measuring table for The City of Kingston
Ergomotion partnered with the City of Kingston to solve the issue of static measuring tables that nurses use to measure and examine a child. These fixed tables posed injury risks when a number of nurses were using the same table for assessment and measurement, and with children of different heights and weights. Static measuring or examination tables are limited in their adjustability, and hold a permanent position. Check out our latest blog post to learn more about the project here.

New Caulfield Hospital Brain Injury Unit
Ergomotion has supplied one of it’s electric height adjustable sit to stand desks to Caulfield Hospital’s new state first brain injury rehab centre. The custom made desk has a deeper cut-out so the user can get in closer to the desk to suit their own specific rehabilitation needs. Royal Children’s Hospital-Melbourne
The hospital has introduced a new PACS and Voice Recognition System into Medical Imaging. The impact has been more use of the mouse and hence more wrist and shoulder pain. The hospital wanted height adjustable desks for their Radiologists as they were experiencing these injuries to work in static and awkward positions for long periods of time. The Radiologists did not have their own desks but instead used the Imaging room as a “hot desk” environment where the doctors would use any desk available. They were using static benches and found that the doctors were adjusting their bodies to suit the desktops, which would lead to sore joints and sometimes more serious injuries.
The Radiologists identified electric height adjustable desks as the best solution to cater for all the varying heights and postures of their doctors. The electric height adjustable desks would allow them to be able to easily adjust their desk to suit themselves while sitting and also allow them to stand for part of the day. The height of the monitors was also of concern as the monitors would need to vary in height depending on whether the doctor was sitting or standing. Monitors arms were needed to allow the monitors to be easily adjusted in height, tilt, pan and reach.
Solution
The Motiondesk™ 2-DL11 electric height adjustable desk was supplied to allow each individual Radiologist to adjust their desk from sitting to standing positions. Monitor arms were supplied to adjust the monitors in reach, pan, tilt and height, with a special plate allowing the PACS monitors to be adjusted as one. Cable trays with mounted power points safely stored and tidied all the cables and alleviated the problem of having multiple plugs going to the wall. Adjustable CPU holders were also supplied to mount the computers to the underside of the desks, so that they could move up and down with the desk. The cable trays and CPU holders helped alleviate an OH&S risk by removing the cables and computer off the floor.
Outcome/Results (experienced by the Hospital)
Without exception all radiologists have commented on how their work practice has improved, with the introduction of the electric height adjustable desk, and how much better they feel with regard to wrist and shoulder pain. The electric height adjustable desks have created a much better working environment. When consultants come down to review their cases, the electric height adjustable desk can be elevated so that no-one has to bend over to see the monitors.
Ambulance NSW
The Ambulance NSW in Dubbo have updated their Emergency Call Centre Desks with the Motiondesk™ electric height adjustable sit to stand desk frame
Ergomotion has supplied their Motiondesk™ electric height adjustable sit stand desk frames to the Ambulance Service of NSW for their Emergency Control Room desks in Dubbo NSW. Like most 24 hour control rooms these height adjustable desks are for multiple users that spend a lot of time at their desks and need to have the ease and range of adjustment to suit their specific requirements when working at the desk.
The Ambulance Service had existing electric height adjustable desks that due to age were continuously failing and in need of repair. The Ambulance Service was looking for an option that would fix this problem, result in as little down time as possible and still give them, at a minimum, the same functionality as before.
The Ergomotion Motiondesk™ electric height adjustable desk frames were retro fitted to the existing desks, where the original mechanism used was reaching the end of its life. The original mechanisms we completely replaced with the Motiondesk™ electric height adjustable desk frame. Monitor arms were also added to the existing monitors allowing the users to adjust the height and reach of each individual monitor.
The outcome was a completely new desk utilizing the existing top and equipment, thereby reducing costs, for a completely new fit out, while still maintaining an ergonomic, healthy and productive Emergency Response Centre.
Ergomotion has supplied and installed its Motiondesk™ (electric height adjustable ergonomic desks) in the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) Training Room of the Ambulance Service of NSW (ASNSW).
The training room prepares trainee Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD’s) in the use of the systems they will use in the live environment.
The ASNSW has attempted to accommodate the different ergonomic needs (heights, builds and postures) of the trainees by using the electrically operated height adjustable desks.
Motiondesk™ height adjustable desks are especially useful for shorter and taller than average people due to the range of height adjustment. Standard desks are not easily modified to suit the individual user especially if different people regularly need to use the workstation.
