Ergomotion – 5 Ways To Optimize Your Work From Home Space

First and foremost, let’s point out the elephant in the room: the whole in-office and work from home space notions have drastically altered over the last couple of years. Between the inevitable pandemic that shook up the entire world and tons of newfound technologies breaking modern grounds, it has collectively resulted in more people having the opportunity to work from home. And by more people, we are talking millions.

Overall, this still fresh work from home norm has helped support much healthier work/life balances as well as highlighted the positive effects of sit to stand desks even more. That said, you are only as productive as your environment allows you to be. Because of that, we here at Ergomotion have compiled a cocktail list of home office essentials (spoiler – electric height adjustable standing desks are on the list), all in a core effort to help you accentuate your work from home space, optimize performance, and of course, ensure your work days are much more enjoyable and comfortable.

5 Ways To Optimize Your Work From Home Space For Productivity & Success

  1. Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desks For The Win

Sit to stand desks made this list not just because we have been experts in their validity for the last 17 years but for their proven health and wellness effects that can transform any work from home space into something both productive and health-conscious. Generally speaking, sitting all day and living a stationary lifestyle is unhealthy, as it can lead to poor circulation, joint stiffness, high blood pressure, and even abnormal cholesterol levels.

To combat this, invest in a quality sit to stand desk, or better yet, an electric height adjustable standing desk. Not only does having this in your work from home space help you burn an estimated 1,000 calories each week, but it has also been proven by The International Journal of Workplace Health Managementย to increase productivity by 65% and reduce neck, back, and shoulder pain by 47%.

  1. Kick Dehydration With A Filtered Water Dispenser

Unfortunately, drinking water tends to be an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ type of thing for many people. Meaning, if you are intensely focused on your work and don’t have a water bottle near you, then there is a good chance you’ll forget to drink water completely until you finally break away hours later. Now, we all are aware that drinking enough water is critical for your overall health and brain functioning. So, to avoid getting trapped in that “forget to drink water” cycle, consider optimizing your work from home space with a filtered water dispenser. From large ones to more compact ones, water dispensers make refilling your water bottle easy without leaving the room and act as a gentle reminder to stay hydrated.

  1. Add Ergonomic Equipment

Sure, electric height adjustable standing desks are technically part of the ergonomic equipment category, but this section is dedicated to the ergonomic assets that help accentuate the sit to standing benefits even more. This includes things like your keyboard, mouse, a seat cushion for the sitting down aspect, and a footrest to improve leg circulation. In short, investing in all things ergonomic in this manner is what will help you remain safe, comfortable and reduce the prevalent risk of acute/chronic injuries to your back, wrists, neck, etc. In the end, when investing in posture-improving equipment, always go with ergonomically graded items. Your body will thank you later.

  1. Have Anti-Blue Light Glasses On Standby

Did you know that your computer screen illuminates high concentrations of blue light? This may sound like a โ€œso whatโ€ scenario, but the reality is that blue light rays have been extensively studied (and proven) to disrupt sleep patterns and cause excess eye strain. And of course, both side effects can significantly hinder your work performance and life quality as a collective.

With that being said, the next way to optimize your work from home space is to always have a pair of anti-blue light glasses nearby. Wear these when staring at your screen for long periods, and enjoy being able to get everything while also giving your eyes a much-needed break from the UVs. You will also likely find that your quality of sleep will improve as well!

  1. Include Anything Red

Color psychology is an incredible thing. And believe it or not, just the very concept of implementing the color red around you can help you inevitably boost your productivity levels up a few notches. Overall, the color red is well known to be an emotional color and motivates us to act, which becomes the catalyst for heart rates to increase a bit and your blood pumping slightly faster. This means if you see a red stapler, red painting, or even red paperclips, their very essence can help improve day-to-day mental power.

Keep in mind that blue and orange also have this type of focus-improving effect, but they donโ€™t often lead to the same physical stimulation as red does โ€“ ultimately making anything red ideal for enhancing work from home productivity.

Summary โ€“ A Product Of Your Environment

In summary, it is no secret that a well-balanced work from home space is one of the most fundamental things you can create to ensure you gain peak performance and health every day. All in all, this is your area to get work done, stay motivated, and feel as comfortable as possible while you make some hard-earned cash. And because your work from home space is likely where you will be spending most of your time, be sure that it possesses all the resources necessary to unlock your highest-performing self.

Remember, investing in things like electric height adjustable standing desks holds much more value than just making your room look nice; it is about positioning you for max success both personally and professionally. Because at the end of the day, a home office might be just a home office, but never forget that we are all products of our environments. By taking the time to integrate the right resources from brands you can trust, your space can quickly transform into something that draws out what you are innately capable of.

Guy (the owner) delivered the desk and set it up quickly. He then gave me a lesson on how to use it and how to get the most out of it. Arrived on time and was absolutely lovely to deal with throughout the whole process. Highly recommend.

I bought an adjustable desk from Guy a couple of years ago, got great service and good price. Recently we had a tiny issue which could not be fixed over the phone. Guy was more than happy to come out and look at it 2 days later. All fixed! I really appreciated his patience with me and accommodating us so quickly. Great old fashioned service and piece of mind. I love it. I know where to get my second desk when needed. Thank you Guy. Jo Manning

Great service and really quick shipping. It is great to know that you are getting quality parts from a Scandinavian manufacturer with your standing desk purchase rather than the cheap knock off stuff you get from other major brands. Reasonably priced for the quality too!

Guy was very accommodating with meeting him at a time that suited me. He assembled the desk prior to me collecting so I only had to carry it inside with help (it's pretty heavy). The desk is great, the storage racks underneath with the 6 x built in powerpoints was worth the extra money. I have a functioning & tidy workplace.
Guy was brilliant, I highly recommend.

Have now purchased 2 stand up office desks off Guy, benchmark sales service from him, all via email, so easy; from quote to plug in, only matched by the strong quality of these machines, solid and stable. If only everything in life was this easy and reliable.

I purchased an EDesk this month from Ergomotion, and it was a remarkably smooth transaction. Guy was eager to answer all my questions before my purchase. As a first-time buyer of a standing desk, I truly appreciated how he addressed my queries with thorough details and provided options within my budget.

The delivery process was also smooth, despite a slight delay in the ETA. Guy ensured I received all necessary updates from the courier/removalist.

I've been using the desk for a couple of weeks now and I'm satisfied with it. It's sturdy on all height adjustments and the motor works as expected. I also like oak finish because it's clean-looking and suits my room setup.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and I'll definitely recommend Ergomotion to someone looking for their desk needs.

I've had an ergomotion desk for 10 years. It's still as good today as it was brand new. Over the years Guy has always responded promptly to any guidance I've needed (mostly help putting the desk back together after removalists take it apart).
